The Bartender ensures proper preparation and service of alcoholic beverages, non-alcoholic beverages and food. He or She must be able to handle accurate collection and recording of all monies received. They at all times must maintain the bar area in a safe, clean, and orderly manner. The individual must confirm all orders are accurate, as per hotel & brand standards, and served promptly and efficiently. This position requires good customer service skills, the ability to multi-task, and effectively communicate with guests.
Responsibilities
- Maintain good personal appearance at all times; wear proper uniform and name tag as prescribed by the hotel.
- Verify the accuracy on all checks for prices, taxes, and tips.
- Greet all arriving guest in a pleasant manner, making them feel welcome.
- Ensure that all newly seated guests receive immediate attention and that their orders are taken promptly and courteously. Guests are not to be neglected at any time.
- Ensure the quality and appearance of the food and beverages you serve meets hotel & brand standards.
- Maintain and count cash bank at the beginning of each shift and balance sales with monies taken in at the end of each shift.
- Follow all rules and regulations regarding alcoholic beverages as set by their state's ABC Board.
- Ensure no alcoholic beverages are given to under legal drinking age or intoxicated guest. If a guest becomes unruly, the bartender should take the necessary steps to ensure the safety of all guest and employees and restore peace to the bar.
- Responsible for cleaning and stocking of the bar. Follow the daily cleaning schedule as set by management.
- Maintain inventory and inform management when ordering is necessary.
- Jigger is to be used for all bottle poured drinks.
- Must understand and follow all health codes pertaining to safety and sanitation of the work area and beverage utensils.
- Advise management of any unsatisfactory food or beverage items so it can be replaced. Advise to Front Desk when applicable.
- Additional duties from hotel manager will be assigned as necessary
